![]() San Francisco International Fashion Week Postponed to March 2005San Francisco International Fashion Week (SFIFW) is honored to have the stellar line-up of designers who agreed to participate in its landmark inaugural fashion event in San Francisco.Unfortunately, San Francisco is currently experiencing a hotel union labor dispute involving many of the premier hotels in the city. This strike has seriously affected SFIFW’s designer accommodations, event headquarters, pre-event publicity, press junket, awards luncheon, and post-event parties that were planned in these hotels. Regrettably, under these circumstances, which are beyond SFIFW's control, SFIFW cannot guarantee the integrity of the fashion show and create an event that is worthy of San Francisco; therefore, we cannot produce the show as scheduled. Accordingly, we have decided to postpone the October 2004 inaugural event to March 2005. “The support that we have received for SFIFW has been unbelievably positive. San Francisco needs a fashion event of this magnitude, and while we are disappointed that the October event has been postponed, we are looking forward to an amazing March line-up,” said Jacinta Law, founder and producer of SFIFW. The SFIFW inaugural event has been rescheduled for March 2005 and will feature Fall 2005 design collections. more press.x... (104) added by Levent OZLER |
![]() Fur Makes Fashion Fun This SeasonFur.Real or faux, it doesn't matter. It's in, and in the most creative ways. "Fur is absolutely on everything," says Helena Dove, the women's clothing buyer for Carlton's in Rehoboth Beach. As would be expected, beautiful, full-length fur coats are available at Carlton's. But those aren't the only fur fashions that Dove, and others in the local fashion scene, have been talking about. From fine stores such as Carlton's, to department stores and boutique women's specialty stores, fur has made its mark on handbags, scarves, gloves, hats, sweaters, jackets, coats and the presently popular ponchos. Some is long and curly, or short and soft. Some is black. Some is brown. Some even comes in lime green and bright turquoise. Some is fine, elegant and expensive. But a great deal of it is affordable and just plain fun. "This is a fun year," says Sharee Sypinski who owns Sharee's in Rehoboth Beach. "The fashions are wonderful. This is the best year since the early '80s." Sypinski, whose shop not only is trendy but pretty affordable, cited the dangly jewelry, brooches, scarves and other creative accessories that add to an exciting season. Sharee's has had a collection of fur-trimmed jackets this season that Sypinski said she's hardly been able to keep in stock. "Every time I get something in more www.del... ![]() Gifts for The Fashion Conscious WomanSome call her high-maintenance. We call her a "stylista."She is a woman who knows what she likes, and what she likes are all things exquisite, stunning, a little esoteric. She can wear brooches in clusters. She visits the Dior makeup counter more often than she chats with her mother. And for the holidays, she wants a toy - a little robot charm by Prada - the ones in all the glossy ads this fall. The charm will set you back $234, but only if you're lucky enough to find one. In summary, a "stylista" is not one to emote over a gift-wrapped bottle of Jean Nate. If Nordstrom's east coast fashion director, Gregg Andrews, had to pick five top gifts this year for a woman of style, he would choose, in this order: -A pair of strappy, decorated metallic shoes. -A tweed jacket. -A "statement" handbag. "Something metallic, decorated, oversized." -A decorative belt, maybe in the form of a ribbon, "something beaded, something chained." "Only five?" Andrews asked. Yes, only five. For those who don't have every Nordstrom in the nation at their disposal, nor the time to ponder whether their girlfriend's second toe might bust right out of a Jimmy Choo shoe, consider makeup. Women in the know know Chanel has a line of limited edition makeup that cycles in and out of stores with the seasons. What they might not yet know more www.azc... (146) added by Levent OZLER |
