FaCshion: Independent Fashion Shopping Event

FaCshion is an independent fashion shopping event set to take London by storm on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February 2008.

A selection of creative and diverse designers will be exhibiting the latest collections from couture to customised fashion and accessories including handbags, hats, jewellery and footwear at this two-day event for consumers and buyers.

FaCshion will take place in the heart of London's retail capital at The Music Room, coinciding with London Fashion Week 2008.

FaCshion anticipate over 2000 visitors promising a fun-filled day out for the fashion conscious individual.

Consumers can enjoy a shopping experience and opportunity to purchase independent collections directly from the designer.

Trade buyers can source new collections from established designers and meet new designers that seldom have the budget to exhibit at traditional trade shows.

FaCshion is currently looking for designers from diverse backgrounds to showcase their talents directly to mainstream consumers and buyers.

The Wind: Issey Miyake + Dyson

Research by the ISSEY MIYAKE team into wind in all its forms was the inspiration for this new collection.

To observe the wind is to be aware of nature, to think about the flow of air that envelopes us and the environment in which we exist.

As an extension of this idea, a range of garments has been created that engage in playful interaction with the wind, such as windcheaters and ventilated coats that allow wind to course around the body.

Like a yacht propelled forward as it rides on the wind that is generated by its own motion, this season's ISSEY MIYAKE creations are infused with a dynamic optimism.

A narrative inspired by the magnificence of wind led us to a collaboration with James Dyson; the design engineer who harnessed the power of air and invented cyclone technology for vacuum cleaners.

Dyson gave the world a vacuum cleaner that overturned the prevailing wisdom, taking 15 years to perfect.

The truly innovative quality of the product and its design engineering excellence have particular resonance for ISSEY MIYAKE.

We are honored to have James Dyson manage the stage set for the Paris Collection show, where he will generate wind on the runway.

This evening, an international jury will choose the Dutch fashion designer who is most likely to succeed in bringing his/her label onto the international market.

This designer will receive the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award: a financial reward of 25.000 euro which will enable him/her to take further steps in the international fashion industry.

The Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Awards is a celebration moment for Dutch fashion, created to assemble the Dutch fashion field and industry.

It is a collective freeze moment to develop the Dutch fashion industry and boost innovative design.

The Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Awards call the attention of the international fashion industry to Dutch fashion and connects fashion creativity with commerce.

Nike Names Sandy Bodecker Vice President of Design

Nike Names Sandy Bodecker Vice President of Design

Nike announced that company executive Sandy Bodecker has been named to the newly created position of Vice President of Nike Global Design.

In his new role, Bodecker will oversee all aspects of design for the Nike brand, from concept creation to retail presentation.

He will report to Nike brand President Charlie Denson.

"Sandy is uniquely qualified to lead the design of Nike products and the premium presentation of the Nike brand to consumers," Denson said.

"Sandy knows how to deliver an innovative, compelling Nike point of view that creates deep consumer connections and drives growth.

In this new role, Sandy will help ensure we're bringing a consistent and relevant Nike experience to the marketplace across our core consumer categories and retail executions."

Nike CEO Mark Parker said the creation of a global design role underscores the company's commitment to delivering a steady stream of product and brand innovations, such as Nikeplus and NikeiD that redefine retail, extend Nike's leadership and give consumers richer, premium experiences.

Nike is driving global growth through a sharper consumer focus across six core categories.

"Design innovation in our products and brand experiences is core to Nike and essential in realizing our full growth potential," Parker said.

"Sandy is absolutely the right person to lead Nike Design."
