Label Lalique Takes Part in Rococo

Lalique Takes Part in Rococo

Lalique will be represented by eight historic masterworks in the exhibition Rococo: The Continuous Curve, 1730-2008, opening March 7, 2008.

Lalique jewelry, glass, and rare design drawings will illustrate the evolution of the rococo style as it entered the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

This exhibition is the first museum survey of rococo and its ongoing resurgence.

It will trace the movement's birth, rebirth and transformation across centuries and continents.

Lalique's objects will illustrate the chronological modifications to the rococo style that occurred when elements of it were incorporated into the art nouveau style popular during the late 1800s and the art deco style of the 1920s.

René Lalique is considered one of the great master's of the art nouveau style and his exceptional sensibility is reflected in the five exquisite pieces of jewelry that will be on view.

Fashion for Sustainability

Fashion for Sustainability

Garanti Gallery announced the exhibition "Fashion for Sustainability" which will be held between 18th of March and 26th of April 2008.

The exhibition explores fashion as a positive force for change towards sustainability.

It combines the products, processes and voices of global brands, independent designers, pressure groups and garment workers, presenting them as a new type of fashion activism.

"Fashion for Sustainability" is part exhibition, part open learning environment and gives a glimpse of a new agenda for fashion based on change.

This new agenda aims to counteract environmental and ethical inaction and overhaul a lack of awareness and blind consumption that typifies many people's experience of fashion today.

Structured around six key sustainability themes and an evolving programme of gallery talks andworkshops from international experts, this exhibition offers an opportunity to weave together a new direction, shared understanding and community of action for sustainability in fashion.

Sydney fashion label Romance Was Born will proffer the proverbial red apple when it launches Garden of Eden at the National Design Centre next month.

Presented by Romance Was Born in collaboration with contemporary Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton, Garden of Eden opens in the ShowBox Gallery on Monday 3 March, 2008.

As an official event of the 2008 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) cultural program, Garden of Eden showcases new one-off designs from Romance Was Born's Autumn Winter collection.

The new collection has been created alongside the label's long-time collaborative partner Del Kathryn Barton and incorporates fabric designs from Barton's latest body of work.

Founded by fashion design duo Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett, Romance Was Born is a fusion of the bizarre, fanciful and truly fantastic.

Since their debut at the Melbourne Fashion Week in 2006, the pair has become renowned for their eccentricity and theatrical approach.

They invent tall tales through elaborately-designed garments while spinning adventurous ranges and seasonal collections from a web of whimsical yarns.
