Sophia Kokosalaki has joined Maison Martin Margiela and Dsquared2 in Renzo Rosso's Diesel style stable.

According to WWD, Rosso has taken a majority stake of the brand through Staff International, the manufacturing arm of his Only the Brave fashion group, which reported sales of £74 million last year.

"Her take on fashion is new, fresh and modern, and the way she designs a dress is just incredible," he said.

"I have never seen so much creativity in each single outfit.

I am in love with her designs."

Declining to reveal specific details of the acquisition, Rosso continued: "It was not a big financial investment, but it will be further down the road," and added that he had been "keeping an eye on Sophia for the past two years" and that he wanted her to become a "modern player in the world of contemporary fashion and a new luxury model".

Greek-born Kokosalaki, who will continue in her other role as creative director of the newly launched Vionnet couture house, says she is keen to use Rosso's "huge network" to expand her brand but adds that she went for it because it was "not too corporate".

Oscars Fashion Retro: Wear Are They Now?

One dress is not enough for Oscar producer Laura Ziskin.

Even 30 of the most iconic dresses ever worn on Oscar's red carpet are not enough. Ziskin wants more.

Not to wear, but to share.

Ziskin is transforming the annual Oscar fashion show, which typically forecasts what styles might grace the red carpet on the big night, into a retrospective of memorable outfits from the past five decades of Academy Award galas.

"A Celebration of Oscar Fashion" will feature dozens of groundbreaking gowns for a private audience of press, stylists and stars on Jan. 30.

But Ziskin and the show's curator, Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley, still hope to collect a few other pieces.

On their wish list? Ellen Barkin's Versace dress from 1993, a Halston gown worn in 1990 by Glenn Close, the dress Julie Andrews wore in 1965 (which was featured in last year's Oscar poster) and "anything from Natalie Wood."

Bacardi Limon Express Your Style Fashion Design Competition

The runway will soon be dressed with fabulous original fashions as Bacardi Limon, a leader in the flavored rum category, and The Daily, the fashion world's authority, invite aspiring designers to add a bit of vibrant color to clothes created with a nod to individual style.

The Express Your Style Competition will reward the undiscovered talent (21+) whose couture cocktail design best exemplifies the essence of Bacardi Limon, a unique blend of Bacardi Premium Rum, infused with an artful combination of lemon, lime and grapefruit essences.

The contest calls for entrants, aged 25 and over, to send sketches of fashions for men or women, in yellow tones, of course, that convey the excitement and intensity of a fabulous night out on the town.

A description of the creative concept, in 500 words or less, must accompany the design, including the types of fabrics required.

Contestants can enter as many times as they wish, but each entry must be different.

Sketches may be sent either by mail or via email as a jpeg attachment sized between 600x900 and 1200x1800 pixels.

All entries must be received by 11:59 EST on January 27, 2007.
