![]() Out of the Blue: Simple Sporty ChicThe setting of a boardwalk jutting out over a shallow sea of blue recalls the unforgettable photos of Jacques-Henri Lartigue, who in the 1920s captured a generation of leisure for whom life was simple, sporty and chic. For his Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Creative Director Christophe Lemaire proposes a contemporary twist on those timeless images, with tennis wear reconsidered for streets and beach attire recast as elegant wardrobe separates that float effortlessly from day into night. The show starts with an homage to tennis whites that Lemaire calls "Matchpoint", with subtle yet strong splashes of emerald green and navy. Women can pick from a range of classics made ultra-modern with Lemaire's signature touch: a fitted tennis dress styled with canvas hi-top tennis sneakers meets sandals with cut-out heel and contrast-coloured piping; a couture-esque tennis skirt with wide quilted waist band and a plethora of poplin pleats worn under a black mini rain cape in nylon with white rope braid piping. Men will find the heavy pique cotton jacket with contrast-coloured piping on the collar and pockets a directional piece, especially when worn over shorts. Tennis chic then gives way to beach elegance with the "Deauville" theme, punctuated by graphic retro-imaginings of summer staples for women including a thin jersey cardigan or a light linen jacket worn over a one-piece boy's boxer-cut swimsuit. more Out of the Blue: Simple Sporty Chic added by Levent OZLER |

![]() IDI Launches Exhibition of Jewelry Design Competition FinalistsThe diamond jewelry design competition held by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) in honor of Israel's 60th anniversary is the basis for a new exhibition that opened at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum. The exhibition was launched at a festive reception in the presence of Mayor of Ramat Gan Tzvi Bar; Chairman of IDI, President of IDMA and IsDMA Moti Ganz; Senior Deputy President of IDE Kobi Korn and President of the Israel Precious Stones Exchange Shlomo Eshed. The competition was intended to encourage the use of Israeli diamonds by jewelry designers here, to foster cooperation between Israeli jewelers and the diamond industry and to position Israel as a manufacturer of unique and original diamond jewelry. Of the dozens of submitted designs 11 were chosen as finalists and will be on display in the exhibition entitled, "Sixty Diamonds and Many More," curated by Yehuda Kassif, IDI's Jewelry Promotion Director and Art Director of the museum. "The jewelry designs showed many different influences, some of them surprising. There were motifs that reflected local plants such as pomegranates, the Sabra cactus and sheaves of wheat, as well as birds of Israel, archaeological sites, desert landscapes, urban high rises and even quotes from Israel's Declaration of Independence," said Yehuda Kassif. event ends Dec 15, 2009 Israel view on map more design events more info www.isr...
