Muller & Meirer Develops High-Quality Men's Shoes with Porsche Design Group

The Porsche Design Group and Muller & Meirer Lederwarenfabrik GmbH, based in Kirn, Rheinland-Pfalz, will also be collaborating in the field of shoes.

The two companies will join forces in developing and producing high-quality men's shoes under the Porsche Design brand.

The first shoes are to appear on the market in 2010.

In addition, a contract extension has been concluded for the soft luggage collection, which comprises leather goods and baggage.

Dr. Jurgen Gessler, Chairman of the Management Board of the Porsche Design Group, emphasizes the exceptional specialist knowledge of Muller & Meirer in the production of shoes: "Muller & Meirer is already producing high-quality shoes for other well-known brands.

The expertise of this company will enable us to complement Porsche Design's product range in an excellent manner."

Steffen Neumann, owner and CEO of Muller & Meirer, adds: "Our companies are linked by the pursuit of the highest possible degree of functionality, perfect technical manufacturing and emphatic puristic design.

We therefore have every confidence that the men's shoes will be just as successful as Porsche Design's luggage collection which we have been taking care of for over ten years."

Bags an Illustrated History

Bags: an Illustrated History

Handbags have never been more important in fashion: the "must-have" bag of the season is a much-lusted-after designer item that can make or break a fashion house.

For women, the handbag is an intimate extension of the body, a kind of mobile home for all the items indispensable for daily life, and at the same time an indicator of her fashionability - be it Prada, Vuitton or Chanel.

Author Caroline Cox traces the development of the bag from its origins in the nineteenth century with reticules (essentially pockets with handles) and Louis Vuitton's revolutionary Noe bag for the female traveller, via Art Deco clutch bags moulded in Bakelite and the Hermes Kelly bag endorsed by Princess Grace in the 1950s, right up to the accessory of the moment, the Mulberry Roxanne.

Retro Prints and Happy Colours for Children at HM

Retro Prints and Happy Colours for Children at H&M

Spring / summer 2008 is fresh and fun for children at H&M.

The mood is carefree and natural - with a nod to the 70s.

Collections in soft cotton, poplin, jersey and denim, are made for summer days where picnic never ends.

"This season's children's collection is all about colours and comfort.

Great denim pieces with patterned or printed shirts and T-shirts are just what kids like to wear when it's all about being outdoors," says H&M's head of design Margareta van den Bosch.

Denim takes centre stage this season - from jeans (tight fit and hung with chains for boys; high-waisted and flared for girls), to softly structured shirt-dresses, button through A-line skirts, waistcoats and high-waisted shorts with cute patch pockets.

Fresh meadow flowers and outdoor neutrals form the basis of this season's happy colour palette, and offset all those denim blues in a breezy patchwork of hues.

A plain or striped tank top team with a cute drop-waist jersey dress in raspberry red, white and grey; or a soft check shirt dress in grass green and sunshine yellow.

Pastels are added to soften the palette - powder pink, turquoise and buttercup, from soft fine knits for boys, to a perfect a-line woven blouse and cute dresses for babies.

The H&M design team increased their usage of organic cotton for the 2008 spring collection.

For the spring line, 1,500 tonnes of organic cotton will be used, which is more than the total amount utilized last year.

"Our organic cotton collection is also high fashion, as customers are becoming increasingly aware of both fashion and the environment.

We are proud to offer clothes made from organic cotton in nearly every H&M department," says H&M's Head of Design, Margareta van den Bosch.

Adidas Launches Fifth Generation of Legendary Barricade Tennis Shoe

Adidas Launches Fifth Generation of Legendary Barricade Tennis Shoe

Some of the world's leading tennis stars gathered today in Melbourne, Australia, to help launch the latest evolution of the adidas tennis shoe known as the legend, the Barricade V.

Ana Ivanovic, Alicia Molik, Marcos Baghdatis and Australian Open debutant Brydan Klein put the new Barricade V shoes to the test on a unique tennis court positioned on top of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the home of the Australian Open set as a backdrop.

Playing atop arguably Australia's most famous sporting venue was a great thrill for both the local and international players who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

"I knew when coming to the Australian Open that we would be playing on a different surface but this is certainly taking it to the extreme," commented Marcos Baghdatis.

"It is certainly a very fitting venue to launch the Barricade V, the tennis shoe known amongst the players as the legend and I look forward to playing in them during the Australian Open."

The first adidas Barricade was introduced in 1999, designed to be the perfect hard-court tennis shoe, combining extraordinary comfort with maximum stability.

The Barricade has since then been worn by some of the best tennis professionals over the past decade including Marat Safin, Justine Henin, Novak Djokovic, Alicia Molik and Ana Ivanovic.
