Pantone Unveils the Top 10 Colors for Spring 2007

Pantone Unveils the Top 10 Colors for Spring 2007

Fashion Week is underway and today, Pantone revealed the top 10 colors for spring 2007.

This year the runways will radiate with surprising neutrals and innovative splashes of corals, yellows and purples.

Each season, Pantone surveys the designers showing at New York Fashion Week to collect feedback on prominent collection colors, color inspiration, color philosophy and each designer's signature shade.

This information is used to create the PANTONE Fashion Color Report and serves as a reference tool throughout the year for fashion enthusiasts, reporters and retailers.

"Most often, colors are not completely reinvented each season," observes Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

"Instead, they evolve from one season to the next.

The Apple Cinnamon of fall, for example, becomes the Café Crème of spring.

What does change each season is the variation of the colors, and/or the combinations of colors.

While navy, black and white are still a presence for spring 2007, designers are choosing a greater variety of neutrals as the canvas for this season's captivating new hues."

Danish Design Award Guldknappen 2006

Danish Design Award Guldknappen 2006

The prestigeous design award from Alt for Damerne: Guldknappen 2006 was presented by editor in chief Hanna Hoejberg at an event 6 September 2006.

The award went to Danish designer Margit Brandt who presented her first collection in 1965 and today more than 40 years after she is back with an elegant, stylish and fine collection.

Margit Brandt shocked and provoked the Danish fashion world in the 1970's.

She is a pioneer and as her design was the first to achieve international fashion awareness of Denmark and Danish design she received the award of 2006 by "Alt for Damerne".

Her design is modern.

Simple with beautiful details and very unique in form and look, yet also for both the young and mature woman of today.

For the new collection of 2006 Margit Brandt found inspiration from the 1960's and 70's.

In her collection there are coats, feminine & sexy dresses, tunics & tops in knitted cashmere blends and printed silks.

Disney Premieres That's So Raven Fashions at Wal-Mart Canada

Disney Consumer Products has launched an exciting new fashion line for tween girls inspired by the popular TV series "That's So Raven" and its spunky lead character Raven Baxter.

Designed by Disney, with input from Raven, the line features must-have looks for trend-forward girls ages 7 to 16 years old.

The new apparel and accessories collections arrived exclusively at Wal-Mart stores throughout Canada this August and are already proving to be a hit with strong sales performance.

The first collections "Free to Be Me" and "Mystic Chic" feature an eclectic mix of fun details, rich textures and a deep color palette of berries, turquoise and black.

Bright colors liven up cool fall days, while embellished garments are detailed with embroideries, faux precious stones and beading offering girls an imaginative way to express themselves.

Soft knits capture the fashion essence of winter using tweed yarns for an ultimate layered look. Both collections play up the importance of denim in a tween girl's life and offer her many ways to personalize and dress up outfits for special occasions or down for a subtle chic look.

The Art Institutes Announces 2007 Passion for Fashion Competition

The Art Institutes Announces 2007 Passion for Fashion Competition

Could you be the next Stella McCartney or Zac Posen?

If you're a high school senior who loves design and would like to pursue a career in fashion design or fashion marketing, The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion competition is for you.

The Passion for Fashion competition was created to recognize and reward young design talent at the high school level and encourage an education in the fashion industry.

At stake is a full scholarship worth up to $70,000 to study fashion design or fashion marketing, merchandising or retail management at one of 22 Art Institute locations in the U.S. or Canada that offer fashion programs.

In addition to a full tuition scholarship for both the fashion design and fashion marketing & merchandising and retail management categories, each grand prize winning student receives an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City during Fashion Week.

During their time in New York, the winning students will spend a day at Seventeen magazine and attend fashion shows.

Both the students and their winning entry will be profiled in an issue of Seventeen magazine.

In this year's Passion for Fashion competition students will be asked for to create an "evening wear" design for the fashion design category or a fashion marketing, merchandising or retail management plan for the corresponding category.
