Couture Influences HM This Autumn

Couture Influences H&M This Autumn

H&M's Modern Classic collection is for the woman who wants to be contemporary, well-dressed and feminine in the office and through to the evening.

This autumn's fashion favourites include a couture-inspired suit jacket with three quarter length sleeves and fabric bow details, a pencil skirt, tie-front blouse and a shift dress.

Since the focus is on the dress this season, the shift is the hottest style.

"Couture-inspired classics are very feminine and chic and are just so 'now'.

The great thing about the Modern Classic collection is that the garments all work well together, for a head-to-toe tailored look, worn by themselves, or teamed with a great pair of jeans.

It is always best for customers to put together their own personal style at H&M and this season, it is very easy," says H&M design director Margareta van den Bosch.

Classic Personal Style Works Best at HM This Autumn

Classic, Personal Style Works Best at H&M This Autumn

The focus this autumn is on a more masculine, classic look.

Suits, cardigans and pea coats are all within the collection, complemented by a range of sweaters, shirts and T-shirts.

For this season's men's campaign we've signed up one of the world's leading footballers, super cool style icon Paolo Maldini, to model H&M's autumn collection and lend it his own classic, personal touch.

"Paolo Maldini has a natural style that is casual yet elegant at the same time.

It's obvious that he's interested in fashion and wants to look well dressed.

His style is based on classic favourites that can be mixed and matched to give a variety of looks.

At the moment it feels right to adopt a minimalist or relaxed approach to fashion design, and Paolo Maldini's style is a good example of this," says H&M's Head of Design Margareta van den Bosch.

Dressing Codes Competition by Domus Academy

Dressing Codes Competition by Domus Academy

The fifth edition of Dressing Codes - the competition organised by Domus Academy and Future Concept Lab with the support of Deborah Group - intends to confront itself for the first time with a real dedicated production.

Besides the traditional cosmetic products and according to the brand philosophy, Deborah Group is investigating decorative elements close to the body, in order to widen the action of "Deborah aesthetics".

Following this approach, this year session proposes to examine the different points of the body with strong design broadmindedness.

Starting from the body as driver of the project the focus is put on those areas that have always been a site of decoration: head, neck, breast, arms, hands, hips and feet.

These are the points where to work on with small objects with functional or simply decorative characteristics.

Hats, hair bands, hair styling, earrings, tattoos, necklaces, bracelets, rings, tops, t-shirts, belts, flip flops and knick knack accessories for mobile phones and bags... these are some of the most obvious categorisation of products proposed, but they can be extended to new functions and objects.

The participants are asked to develop a complete and consistent collection able to consider all these aspects in a summer philosophy: the collection will be spring/summer 2007.

3 Triumphant Designers

3 Triumphant Designers

Austrian-American Kirsten Hiller, Paz Soto Salinas from Chile-Germany and the Israeli with Ukrainian origin Tatiana Pogrebnyak are the favourites among 438 designers with more than 1.500 submitted works and enter now the finalist round of the Triumph International Fashion Award 2006.

At this time an international expert jury evaluates the works of these three designers on the topic "Dress up for Mozart - Rock up Rococo!" to select the winner.

"The concept of the electoral system is that two independent juries vote for the winner: on the one hand international fashion experts with their professional evaluation of the submitted works; on the other hand the readers of fashionoffice with their fashion know-how in a public choice.

Of course the self-promotion of the designers also is an important factor in this choice: so the 7 Selected have motivated their families, friends, schoolmates, teachers, and even by online postings community members to vote for them."
