Minna Parikka Playful Seduction for Forever Girls

Minna Parikka: Playful Seduction for Forever Girls

The Minna Parikka brand is all about gingerbread-edged femininity with an extra spoonful of sweetness.

Mouth-watering colours, delicately chosen materials, heels shaped like starlets' hips and details as happy as silver-screen endings - all wrapped up in a single package.

It is a collection of shoes and matching bags as tempting as a candy shop for a little girl.

Minna Parikka autumn/winter 2006 accessory collection consists of four themes with emphasis on the shoes.

Swan wings shaped beautifully from leather with beige-gold embroidery, nerve tingling soft and warm ice-skating gear and gingerbread shapes so hot they might have come straight from the oven.

The fourth theme is a flirty modern girl's version of the 50's teddy boy classic.

Its light rubber sole makes this style right for women who like to slip into something more comfortable every now and then.

All the styles are given nicknames, like Minnie, Sweet-Heart and Dolly, which shows that these girls have been raised with love and care.

Based in Helsinki, Finland, this young designer adds a touch of playful seduction to what is often sexless Scandinavian design.

YKK ITS Accessories The New Challenge for Creativity

YKK ITS Accessories: The New Challenge for Creativity

When details make the difference they become the focal point of a competition dedicated to fashion and accessories design students from all over the world.

For the second time YKK joins forces with ITS (International Talent Support), an annual event that provides a platform for fashion & design students and graduates from all over the world to show their creativity.

In the last edition, Demna Gvasalia, the winner of ITS#THREE, expressed his creativity in an outfit made entirely out of YKK fastening products.

This special project with YKK was presented during the finale in Trieste, demonstrating how a simple fastening product like the zip has the power to become a "key detail" for discovering new talent.

YKK repeats the experiment: placing its products in the hands of young creatives' in order for them to realize their own creations.

ITS#ACCESSORIES will ask the designers to create an accessory with YKK fastening products.

Enter ITS#FIVE, the debut of ITS#ACCESSORIES: The first contest in the world entirely dedicated to accessories created with YKK.

Yohji Yamamoto Dream Shop

Yohji Yamamoto Dream Shop

MoMu is welcoming an exhibition devoted to Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto.

The third installment of a series beginning with the Pitti Immagine Foundation in Florence and the Musée de la Mode et du Textile in Paris, the Antwerp show is entitled Dream Shop.

Halfway the exhibition the visitor enters the Dream Shop: a white, dream-like space where visitors can try on around twenty pieces in neon-drenched changing cubicles.

Thought of in two parts, this event will at once be a retrospective of the designer's work and also a unique threefold experience of his creative work: visual, tactile and corporal.

Yamamoto's designs strike the perfect balance between creative simplicity and technical virtuosity and refinement.
His unique ability to combine the elegance of French haute couture with the traditions of Japanese dress results in pieces that are at once pure and sculptural.

Mise en scène by Masao Nihei - recognized for his particular treatment of light in his work on fashion shows - Dream Shop will present 80 silhouettes, from the late 1980s to today.

The Hatwalk 2006 Theatre Fashion Event

The Hatwalk 2006 Theatre Fashion Event

The Hatwalk 2006 Theatre Fashion Event will take place on 31 May and 1 June with three separate performances exhibiting an extravagant fusion of fashion, theatre, music, dance, light - and hats.

Each event will showcase the work of Scotland based milliners and over 50 performers.

More than 350 hats designed by the children and young people who attend the Hatwalk master classes and workshops throughout Scotland over the course of the year will all be displayed.

A raffle and auction that includes the chance to feature as a corpse in Richard Jobson's latest horror movie "NewTown Killers", become a character in Arabella Weir's next novel, buy an original Dr Who script signed by David Tennant or dine with political pundit, Andrew Marr at London's Le Caprice Restaurant, will all help raise money for the educational charity work of Hatwalk and its partner charity, Family Service Unit Scotland (FSUS), a voluntary organisation that works with Scotland's most vulnerable families.

"For the last two years over 250 children have taken part in our country-wide workshops and master classes and they all had their work on display or on the catwalk at the Theatre Fashion Shows."
