WESC Opened Concept Store in NYC

WESC Opened Concept Store in NYC

WESC celebrated the launch of the WESC New York concept store at 282 Lafayette Streett.

The evening began with an exclusive store reception, then moved to Home where Weactivists Stretch Armstrong and Steve Aoki spun to a crowd of over 500 people, including Jason Lee, Mike Myers, and many more.

Why New York? CEO/Co-Founder Greger Hagelin says "New York is New York. It is one of the cultural epicenters of the world when it comes to street wear, music and street art/culture."

The creation of a New York store was part of the Superlative Conspiracy from the outset and began development in January 2005.

More than an ordinary store, WESC integrated our philosophy, mentality and personality into the design.

In order to accomplish this goal, we searched out the right designer; someone with street credibility and a shared vision.

Our choice was Steve Lewis and Chris Sheffield from SLDesign.

The fundamental of SLDesign's approach is creating unique and innovative environments that work. With twenty years' experience designing and operating nightclubs, partner Steve Lewis' success stories include some of New York's most memorable: Limelight, Tunnel, Spa and Plaid, just to name a few.

Platform 21: A New Stage for Design, Fashion and Creation

Platform 21, an international centre for design, fashion and creation, opened to the public on Saturday 25 March in its temporary location in the remodelled St. Nicholas church at Prinses Irenestraat 19 in Amsterdam.

This new initiative in the Zuidas district will serve as a meeting point for professional designers, entrepreneurs, researchers, critics, and a growing group of creative amateurs.

Platform 21 responds to contemporary developments.

Its programme varies from short, intensive closed events to broadly conceived activities for the public such as presentations, workshops, shows, lectures and parties.

Platform 21 aims to develop an identity of its own which will be both complementary to and differentiated from existing cultural offerings in the area of design and fashion, at the national as well as the international level.

The next few years will be a pioneering phase for Platform 21. In 2009 we will move into our new home close to the St. Nicholas church.

Platform 21 is an initiative of ING Real Estate, the Premsela Foundation and the city of Amsterdam. The director is Dingeman Kuilman, and the programme director is Joanna van der Zanden.

The programme at Platform 21 also provides space for activities of the Virtual Museum Zuidas.

This museum organises visual arts projects that will be

SA Fashion to Receive a Major Boost with the Launch of AutumnWinter Fashion Weeks

SA Fashion to Receive a Major Boost with the Launch of Autumn/Winter Fashion Weeks

The fashion landscape of South Africa is set to receive a major re-shuffle with the announcement of two new world-class fashion weeks.

The events fill a long standing gap in the fashion calendar for an Autumn/Winter fashion week to bring South Africa in line with the international fashion calendar.

The Autumn/Winter Fashion Weeks will take place in March 2007 under the titles: Cape Town Fashion Week and Jo'burg Fashion Week.

The events will run within days of each other to allow greater access by foreign media and trade.

The move was prompted by pressure from designers and fashion media to have a platform for Autumn/Winter collections and represents a coming of age for South African fashion; finally giving local designers a platform to compete on a global level year round.

The two new dates on the fashion calendar compliment the three major Spring/Summer fashion weeks that take place annually between June and July and the organisers will be looking at further synergies between all of these events.

Paiva Womens Athletic Fashion Boutique Makes National Debut

Paiva Women's Athletic Fashion Boutique Makes National Debut

Finish Line, one of the nation's leading athletic specialty retailers, today announced that it will debut the nation's first Paiva store in Austin, Texas at Barton Creek Square on Friday, April 14th.

Additional openings this spring include Natick Mall near Boston, Westfield Annapolis in Maryland, Mall of America in Minnesota and Bellevue Square in Seattle.

"Paiva stores are designed specifically for the active woman," says Alan Cohen, CEO and Chairman of Paiva's parent company The Finish Line, Inc.

"These stores have a unique atmosphere that provides style, vitality, inspiration and product offerings showcasing the best athletic brands and premium design collections."

The inspiration of the store focuses around light and energy, and Paiva encompasses both of these elements.

Paiva means sun diety or "of the light" - and light is a source of strength and energy for women, as is fitness a source of energy and strength for active women.

The concept embodies the idea of "Energy from Within" - women who shop in the store will discover energy within themselves and within the store.
