Colleen Baran Exhibition at The Crafts Association of British ColumbiaThe Crafthouse Gallery announced a solo show of new jewelry by Colleen Baran entitled "Like Wearing a Love Letter". The opening is, Thurs, March 27th at 6:00 to 8:00.
The jewellery is handmade from diverse materials such as silver, paper, custom made rubber stamps, plastic, recycled gold, and textiles using new, recycled and vintage supplies.
In conjunction with this show is an ongoing project "Share Your Love"; an open call collecting stories of love.
Baran says: "In the 'Like Wearing a Love Letter' series I wanted to make jewellery that was like a love letter. Like wearing a daydream, a memory or a thought of love."
The final pieces include: rings with multiple parts, with multiple layers, for multiple fingers, with little compartments for hiding love stories, with hearts emerging and growing from bands and a ring with a stamp set into it that allows imprints of love to be left behind.
Colleen Baran is a Canadian artist who has exhibited, published and been collected internationally.
