Mika Piirainen: Spring/Summer 2008Inspired by Marimekko's fascinating and highly original pattern world, Mika Piirainen has designed a colourful and joyful collection which evokes fresh sea breezes and country cottages, as well as urban summers.
In the Dyyni pattern designed by Maija and Kristina Isola, the influence of the Memphis group of the 1980s can clearly be felt.
The curved forms of the pattern are repeated in the cuts of the clothes.
Maija Isola's Slavic-inspired Samovaari design from 1970 is both sturdy and decorative.
Isola's Omena pattern of small stylised apples (1956) adorns a fun, short trench coat, among other styles.
The restrained ornamentalism of Vuokko Eskolin- Nurmesniemi's Prenikka pattern is brought to the fore in beautifully made summer dresses.
A wide variety of summery accessories are also available; hats, scarves, bags, purses, sneakers, ballet slippers.
