Cherry Cotton Candy's Cute Girl's CollectionCherry Cotton Candy launched the new range at Carlson's catwalk show with a sexy, sassy collection of sportswear and witty references to cheerleaders in long socks with red lips.
Girls sang the Beastis Boys as the candy girls walked out in traniers and long socks with red pouts and 1950s coiffures. The sportswear range included kneelength swing skirts cut in shiny yellow sports knit fabric worn with hooded tops and cartoon print sweats.
A stand-out piece was a deep v-backed dress with chequered trim on the vee and cap sleeves. Gingham shirts and pastel shorts worn with tight suit jackets totally suited the soundtrack by grrl group The Donnas. It's post-feminist fashion for those that were never going to be tomboys.
Designed by two of Carlson's assistants, Cherry Cotton Candy is a delicious mixture of urban wear and out-there Japanese street fashions. It is a fun range of casual daywear that will appeal to early adopters who like a fusion of styles.
And that fusion is a result of two very different co-designers whose names helped inspire the Cherry Cotton Candy name - Cara Cotton (23) and Cherry Austin-Spivey, aka Miss Cherry Pie (22).
