Fashion Flashback: Golden OldiesFrom the glamour of the '20s to the power suit of the '80s, some styles are worth revisiting.
Style, fashion and design are always changing, they say, and always evolving into something new even while harkening back to what came before.
That's particularly noticeable at the turn of each year, when style-watchers examine the trends of the previous year and look forward to what trends may appear during the next.
But lost in the shuffle are trends that one might wish would return. We asked several style-watchers about trends in fashion and design that they'd like to see come back.
Their answers -- which cover things both aesthetic and practical -- could, we think, serve as fodder for fashion-forward Southern Nevadans who might wish to have a hand in creating the next big thing.
Gigi Morris, a designer who teaches fashion design and apparel production at the Nevada Association of Fashion Design, casts her vote for a return to the looks and styles of the 1920s.
That era is "my favorite," she says. "I love the glamour of the '20s."
In fact, Morris uses the '20s to illustrate design principles in her classes. In the clothing of the time, she says, "you can really study all the details in the fashions, where you do a lot of accessorizing and a lot of trims."
"It really is a very glamorous era," she says.
