Canadian Designers Flock to New York Fashion WeekSix hot Canadian designers are set to showcase their fur fashions at the epicentre of cool: New York Fashion Week.
This Saturday's show, called Northern Exposures and sponsored by the North American Fur Association and the Toronto Fashion Incubator, will feature designs by Izzy Camilleri, Paul Hardy, David Dixon, Joeffer Caoc, Marie Saint Pierre and CINCYN.
Even though her fur collection will consist largely of outerwear, fans of the Toronto-based Camilleri will still be treated to a few sizzling, body-hugging designs.
A heavily jewelled evening dress - a mix of black mink and leather - is her most revealing piece.
The rest of the collection is fur separates mixed with leather or a weave fabric Camilleri is using for her fall collection.
Hardy has been working with a variety of furs including long-haired beaver, coyote, muskrat and mink. His collection will feature coats with a more progressive, functional approach. It will include fur-lined coats such as tweed hooded duffle jackets lined in muskrat with the hoods lined with silver fox or beaver, "just to give it that richness."
For more decadence, he'll include a full-length evening coat with a white quilted wool and silk exterior trimmed in pearl mink and fully lined in a sheared pearl mink.
