Kin and Robert Lim: A Fresh Look at JewelleryJewellery ought to be timeless masterpieces that complement the wearer, yet in terms of innovation, not much has changed in the way such pieces are presented.
Jewellers L.W. Kin and Robert Lim have sought to buck this trend and are known for taking apart old jewellery pieces and materials and putting them back together in unique contemporary designs that are entirely their own.
The jewellery always carries a theme that anyone can readily identify with and often comprise many different elements and colours that demand attention and close inspection to appreciate the intricate beauty.
"Our jewellery is based on innovation and contemporary designs that borrows from the beauty and intricacy of antique designs," said Lim, the more vocal half of the duo.
"Take jade, for instance,, which people associate with out-of-date traditional Chinese jewellery. People just don't see past that sometimes, but jade can be beautiful when pieced together with other designs and colours," he explained.
Lim sources for the materials as he has an eye for the best stones and materials, while Kin puts everything together.
"That's why we make a great team, even after five years in the business," said Kin modestly. His simple demeanour underscores the magic that he infuses his creations with.
