Wild Designs Make Fashion Headlines in LondonWhile historically the Paris and Milan shows may attract more attention, London has earned the reputation for creative edge and quirkier shows than its European competition.
And this year was no exception with designers sending exotic Siberian chic and daring slogan-emblazoned creations down the runway. Kicking off the week was style-anarchist Robert Cary Williams, with a collection which drew its inspiration from controversial tabloid headlines.
Robert literally brought the street to the runway as he re-create it as a cobblestone street. Exploring the public's obsession with celebrity, the designer sent dozens of models down the catwalk in sombre floral-patterned knee-length outfits adorned with a variety of tabloid headlines. Among them were "I Moss Marry Kate" and "I Can't Help Myself", commentaries used to chronicle supermodel Kate Moss's romance with former Libertines singer Pete Doherty.
Meanwhile Japanese designer Michiko Koshino brought a radically different approach to proceedings on Tuesday as she unveiled a wild collection of woolly designs inspired by the frosty climes of Siberia's Ural Mountains. Michiko filled the runway with models in woolly hoods and hats drawing colours from a palette of snowy white and tundra neutrals.
