NY Fashion Week Shows Career Wear But in YellowCareer women of every size and shape could come away from New York's Olympus Fashion Week confident there will be a flattering spring style they could wear in the boardroom - as long as they look good in yellow.
Designers at the premier U.S. fashion event showed pants that were long, short, wide and narrow. Skirts ranged from full to slim, and matching jackets and slacks reemerged to take the guesswork out of coordination.
"It's always been the case with collections shown here in America," said Fern Mallis, a vice president of IMG Fashion, which produces the semi-annual fashion event.
"These are not fantasy shows," she said. "They are much more realistic."
The Ellen Tracy line, operated by publicly traded fashion behemoth Liz Claiborne Inc., showed soft jersey, linen and cotton suits and jackets with wide, so-called portrait necklines and short sleeves.
Loose blouses were paired with narrow trousers or the lines were reversed to pair wide, Katherine Hepburn-style pants with narrow, buttoned tops.
