501 Punti di Design Italian Graphics Dock in New York

501 Punti di Design: Italian Graphics Dock in New York

A grid of 20 x 25 numbered points + one point out of a group, a space with hundreds of the same posters, 10 designers, 5 topics and the public.

501 PUNTI DI DESIGN, after three editions: Milan Design Week (Milan April 2005), Dinamismi Museali (Soneria Mannelli (CZ) August 2005) and ArteFiera (Bologna January 2006), goes to New York.

Ministero della Grafica, an association that promotes and supports visual communication as a strategic discipline, has involved Italian and New York graphic designers in this event, inviting them to design whatever their imagination suggests on a grid of 501 points logos, icons, writing.

The result is a combination of numbers that trace the thought images on themes of Passion, Italian Spirit, Design, Belief and Fear.

A drawing pen and a code will be the public's tools with which we will invite them to trace the hidden images between the almost infinitive possibilities offered by the 501 points on the grid, dynamically creating an exhibition of oneself.

School of Design Presents RAW Design in Progress is Rough

School of Design Presents RAW: Design in Progress is Rough

The School of Design at George Brown College presents RAW, the year end show and exhibition celebrating the best works from the Class of 2006 graphic design students.

This year's theme Design in Progress is Rough plays on the concept of "sandpaper" and its function as an agent of change in shaping raw products or ideas into refined end products.

Open to all third year graphic design students, individuals started with their design thesis projects and had the opportunity to choose their themes.

The thesis projects were developed around a theoretical proposition and include research, project management and a creative design component.

In this year's show, thirty student projects were selected through an industry jury.

Categories include Corporate Design, Advertising, Image Design, Digital Media, and Environmental Design.

Top entries receive cash prizes which will be awarded on May 4.

The industry jury included Claire Dawson from Underline Studio, Gerald George of The George Partnership, Ian McFayden of Autodesk (formerly Alias), illustrator Jennifer Herbert and copywriter Brent Pulford.
