 In January 2006, Design Forum Finland started a strategic planning process in order to improve international marketing of Finnish design and to reinforce its position internationally.
Design Forum Finland s vision is to make Finland internationally known for its high class design know-how and include design as an integral part of Finland's national image by 2010.
"In the past, design has had an exceptionally important role in building the national identity of Finland.
Today, design is strongly integrated to the modern Finnish society, which is based on research, innovativeness and technological know-how," states Mr Ilpo Santala, CEO of Design Forum Finland.
The aim of the project is to improve the visibility of Finnish design both in international press as well as in important international arenas.
The purpose is to present new designers, companies and success stories alongside well-known icons of Finnish design.
The marketing strategy currently under preparation is intended to promote the international competitiveness of design-intensive companies and the design sector as a whole.
At the national level, the aim is to make design as one of the prime focuses of Finnish creative exports and to seek synergies in the promotion of other cultural, as well as technological fields.

 The 22 International Biennale of Graphic Design will take place in 2006.
To mark this special event, the Brno Biennale Association is inviting all colleagues, designers, illustrators, and graphic design students from around the world to participate to participate in a special exhibition, Identita / Identity.
Design your own vision of Identity (personal, club, national, global, local, professional, philosophical, religious, sports, cultural etc. etc.) and send it by fax or e-mail* in a vertical format A4 (297x210 mm) - only in black and white.
The organisers will enlarge images submitted to poster size according to exhibition space available in Brno.
Include your name, date of birth and complete address with your submission.
Submissions will be accepted from 1 May to 6 June, 2006.

 Following two successful Iranian typography exhibitions, Boof-e-Koor and Molavi, which were strongly supported by Iranian graphic designers and received positive overseas reaction, The 5th Color is organising the third Iranian typography exhibition called Iranian Proverbs.
This title is at once short and at the same time important in Persian literature.
It also refers to the variety as well as capability for creating typographic works.
The exhibition will be held from 8 > 21 June 2006 in the Tehran Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran.

 The Omnium Creative Network (OCN) is a free, non-profit, online global community of creative people (students, professionals, educators, theorists, writers).
Its aim is to encourage members from all over the world to collaborate in a variety of ways, to focus their attention on more socially aware and ethically responsive art and design projects.
Membership is made up of participants from a wide variety of countries worldwide; in particular countries less fortunate in terms of having easy access to creative interaction through conferences, publications and exhibitions.
Full OCN members (500) will have their own member profile and personal gallery areas where they can introduce themselves, exhibit their own creative work, and have the opportunity to fully interact with all the other members of the network.
The OCN aims to become a rich research resource and information exchange, as well as a place for its members to get the chance to meet people normally out of reach due to their geographical or socio-economic situation.
As a creative network, the OCN is not intended to be a place where only technically adept members can exhibit their talent, but a sharing space where members of all levels of creative proficiency can help and advise each other on a whole range of issues and worthwhile projects.
