Yupo Corporation America, the largest manufacturer of synthetic paper in the western hemisphere, has unveiled a new swatch book to showcase its line of bright white, super smooth, waterproof, and tear and chemical resistant synthetic papers.
The swatch book displays Yupo's new UV Printable grade that requires no primer, as well its text, cover and translucent grades in various weights.
The threefold swatch book has a center pocket filled with interchangeable cards that prominently feature Wally, Yupo's beloved mascot.
They also demonstrate a full range of techniques for Yupo's versatile synthetics including die cutting, embossing, spot gloss, and varnishes.

AGDA ACT will celebrate World Graphic Design Day, in Canberra this year by presenting "Dr Type", Dr Anthony Cahalan, "Interrogating Type".
Typefaces are essential to a designer's ability to communicate visually.
The late twentieth century witnessed the democratisation and internationalisation of typeface design and usage.
This was significantly due to the ease of access to desktop computer technology and a related exponential growth in the number of typefaces available to users of type.
Anthony Cahalan looks at the way designers and professional users of typefaces saw the type design industry from the inside.
He provides "snapshots in time" of typeface design. In his presentation for World Graphic Design Day 2006, he will share some of the fascinating outcomes from his research and will reflect on completing Australia's first PhD in the field of typography.

The Premier's Design Awards 2006 are central to the State of Design, a celebration of Victoria's leading edge design diversity, expertise and potential.
Designed to recognise and reward innovation and achievement across all disciplines of Victorian design, in new categories across the tertiary and professional sectors, the Premier's Design Awards 2006 focus on Victoria as the State of Design.
This year, the prize monies have increased. The Premier's Design Award 2006 with an AUD 40,000 prize will be awarded to a designer or design team for design excellence and innovation of national or international standard.
Categories have been streamlined rewarding excellence and innovation across the four major fields of professional design; recognising and nurturing talent in four student sections and awarding career achievement for design leadership in Victoria.
The inaugural City of Melbourne Sustainability Design Award will recognise achievements specific to the city's sustainability design agenda.
Shortlisted and winning entries will be exhibited at the Melbourne Museum from October - December 2006.
