 Registration is now open for this three-day learning conference designed just for creative professionals who use Apple's Macintosh platform.
MacLive brings together Mac-based digital photographers, graphic designers, iPod freaks, total Mac geeks, and thousands of the Macintosh faithful for an event that breaks all the rules.
Headlined by the best known names in the Mac world, including David Pogue, Chris Breen, Scott Kelby, Bob Levitus, Deke McClelland, and a host of others, it kicks off May 11-13, 2006 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
The conference features full training tracks on Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Mac OS X, Adobe InDesign, Apple's iLife Applications, the iPod and Podcasting, and more in 60+ sessions.
MacLive is also highlighted by a host of special events, including an exclusive party at Planet Hollywood in Times Square, a Macintosh Film Festival, a special evening with celebrated Mac artist Bert Monroy, and a late-night "Mac After Dark" session.

 Semi-Competitive is a design, film & fashion competition brought to you by Design is Kinky and Adobe.
Closely aligned with the Semi-Permanent events, the competition consists of three categories; Graphic, Motion/Film and Fashion.
Each category not only has the chance of winning a large prize but winners will also gain world wide exposure of their work at the Semi-Permanent events.
Graphic section's aim is to design a series of (three) posters.
They can be on any theme and any style; illustration, digital art, painting, graffiti, street, collage, photography, etc.
The emphasis is on creative art & design.
They are looking for work that stands out from the crowd, that pushes a style to it's limits and that are humorous and intelligent.
These works should be noncommercial (ie, not from corporate work).
Posters will be printed and displayed at events.
Winning posters and a number of other entries will be printed in the Semi-Permanent 2006 book.
Motion/Film's aim is to create a motion graphics and/or film piece.
They can be on any theme and in any style.
The emphasis of the motion/film section is on creativity and humour.
The pieces will be shown on the big screen at the Semi-Permanent events and therefore need to be fun, creative, witty and intelligent.

 The Cresta Awards, which honor an absolute standard of creative excellence in international advertising and marketing communications since 1993, has issued the call for entries in its 14th worldwide competition.
This year marks a new dimension for the Cresta Awards as it introduces a Jury President and restructures its competitions to include the following: Press, Poster, Ambient Media, TV/Cinema, and Interactive.
Creative Standards International, the Cresta Awards is pleased to announce its selection for 2006 Jury President, Ms. Kitty Lun, General Manager and Executive Creative Director of Arnold Worldwide Partners, Shanghai.
A 25-year veteran of North Asia's advertising (Leo Burnett, McCann-Erickson and Euro RSCG) and media industries, Ms. Lun's creative experience is that of a trailblazer, both for Asian women breaking into the business and for the rising crop of local creatives.
She has won numerous advertising awards, has chaired and judged various awards shows and is a frequent lecturer.
Currently she also serves on several community boards for the Hong Kong Government.

 Sony's TriStar Pictures today announced Chuck Waite of El Cerrito, California has won the competition to design the official poster for the highly anticipated SILENT HILL, set for release nationwide in theatres on April 21, 2006.
The winning poster, which can be seen on the film's website, will be on display in theaters across the country prior to release of the film.
Waite will also receive a cash prize of $2500.
TriStar kicked off its poster contest on December 5, 2005 by inviting fans and amateur artists to design the official poster for the movie.
Participants were able to download creative elements from the film in order to create their own Silent Hill posters.
More than 185,000 fans cast their votes for one of 2050 poster designs submitted during the first phase of the competition.
The five finalists were revealed on January 22 with fans again going online to vote for the winner. Waite's design received over 32,000 votes during the final voting period.
