Sila Soyer has been promoted to Executive Producer of Outside Editorial, taking the helm of the SOHO-based editorial, design and visual effects boutique dedicated to providing ad agencies with a collaborative creative environment for their high-end traditional and new media projects.

Formerly Head of Business Development for the two year-old company, Soyer brings a diverse set of skills to her new position as she heads up a hand-picked talent roster that includes owner/editor Scott Gaillard and editors Scott Gibney, Jeff Ferruzzo, Steve Evans and Neil Gust.

Troika Rebrands Great American Country GAC Network

Troika Rebrands Great American Country (GAC) Network

Troika Design Group, a strategic design and branding agency, has created a new on-air identity for Great American Country (GAC), E.W. Scripps 24-hour country music video network.

The new look comprises a redesigned logo, IDs, bumpers, promo toolkits for day and nighttime programming, billboards, and a music package with signature mnemonic.

Troika handled everything from concept, design, and animation for the rebrand, which is centered on the visual theme "Modern Tradition".

"Troika is familiar with how to market a country music brand and has worked with other Scripps properties such as HGTV, Food Network, and Fine Living, so I knew the company had the corporate sensibility and know-how to strategically and creatively market GAC," said music network veteran and repeat Troika client Stacey Killian Hagewood, VP of Client Services, Great American Country.

The GAC redesign takes inspiration from the colorful patchwork look of quilts and the rugged feel of honky-tonk bar signage.

Titles, live-action footage provided by the network, graphics of western iconography (cowboy boots, mandolins, Gibson guitars, bulls), and Troika-shot still photography are layered together, along with peeling paint textures and stencil lettering effects that are incorporated to add a vintage and organic feel.

The Designers Republic Leads European Repositioning for Coca Cola

The Designers Republic Leads European Repositioning for Coca Cola

The Designers Republic (tDR), has been invited to be the European representative of Coca Cola's M5 project: a strategic initiative that aims to take the Coke to another level.

Over the past decade, tDR has built a reputation as one of the world's leading brand advisors: with recent projects undertaken for Nokia, Sony, Deutsche Bank, Swedish Telecom, Nickelodeon and Paco Rabanne.

Initially working with Coke on a limited edition bottle: tDR developed an entire brand vocabulary and attitude called "Love Being" which has become part of a much broader, global campaign including events, multi-media, a range of merchandise and above the line marketing activity.

Ian Anderson, founder and director of the Designers Republic said: "The biggest challenge facing companies today is effective communicating with their market. For big brands like Coke, blanket advertising is no longer an option: it's both expensive and ineffective.

'Love Being' gives Coke the opportunity to forge a direct relationship with their consumers. The message is simple: spreading love around the world; but the channels of delivery are brand new.

These are fascinating times for designers: projects like M5 invite us to explore the improbable and inevitably that is throwing up some very exciting possibilities."
