Urban Guerrilla Protest

Urban Guerrilla Protest

Urban Guerrilla Protest is an absorbing documentation of the media guerrillas who ruled the urban landscape between 1995-2005.

Using an array of methods designed to seize the attention of the public, many activists worldwide have successfully conveyed their revolutionary messages.

"Urban Guerrilla Protest," illustrated cover to cover, addresses many of those methods, the individual messages, and what instigated the protests in the first place.

In "Urban Guerilla Protest," Berlin-based graphic designer Ake Rudolf has compiled and documented an astonishing collection of successful and emotional protest actions from around the world.

The book's design and bilingual English/German layout is an homage to the "Do It Yourself" attitude that epitomizes the work of the typical protester, who questions and fights against corporate supremacy, governmental policies and other affairs of modern society.

Projects by Reverend Billy, the Yes Men, The Institute for Applied Autonomy, The Billboard Liberation Front, The Ruckus Society, Yomango, Surveillance Camera Players and more than 90 other groups and individuals provide illuminating examples from the US, UK, Australia, China, Argentina and other countries of where these messages come from, how they're implemented, how they're received by the public and, in many cases, how they ultimately incite change.

LeAnn Rimes Erdman Organic Valley and ShopBop Join Planet Propagandas Client List

LeAnn Rimes, Erdman, Organic Valley and ShopBop Join Planet Propaganda's Client List

Print, interactive and motion design firm Planet Propaganda has added four new clients to its roster: LeAnn Rimes, Erdman, Organic Valley, and Shopbop.

Projects with each of these clients are already underway.

Planet is working closely with singer and songwriter LeAnn Rimes on a logo and related iconography.

The new look will be unveiled during her current tour, which runs through October.

The firm is also working with national healthcare design-build firm Erdman, a Cogdell Spencer Company.

Responsibilities include development of a new identity, as well as a range of print and interactive work.

Farmer-owned cooperative Organic Valley has tapped Planet for an undisclosed packaging initiative, which will launch in grocery stores this fall.

Planet also is working on a series of in-store promotions for the rapidly growing co-op.

For shopbop.com, a leading retailer of women's apparel and accessories, Planet currently has five videos in production.

These initial videos focus on Shopbop's high-end denim selection, with other areas slated to be featured throughout the year.

Planet's interactive group also is developing a Flash-based video player for the site.

"We're continuing to attract the attention of nationally and internationally recognized clients which is fantastic.

We love variety and, looking at LeAnn Rimes, Erdman, Organic Valley, and Shopbop, things don't get much more varied than that," said John Besmer, principal and creative director at Planet.

Bontragers ads Got the Upgrade from Planet Propaganda

Bontrager's ads Got the Upgrade from Planet Propaganda

Planet Propaganda expands upon the success of its "Upgrade" advertising campaign for Bontrager.

The 2008 campaign maintains the tightly focused, highly saturated, fashion-quality photos of Bontrager's wheels and components.

Slightly shifting the call to action, the new ads transition from a rally cry, "Upgrade," to a point of proof, "Got the Upgrade," while carrying through implication that if you don't have Bontrager; you may be at a disadvantage.

Launched this May, Bontrager's 2008 advertising campaign continues "to play on the fears and aspirations of serious cyclists by combining drool-worthy product imagery with athletes that have tested and chosen Bontrager on their own bikes," says Planet Propaganda's associate creative director, Dave Taylor.

Tour de France and Giro d'Italia winner Alberto Contador, American National champion Levi Leipheimer, 2000 Olympic Games medalist Andreas Klöden, and four-time Redlands Bicycle Classic Overall champion Chris Horner are among the recognizable names and faces appealing to Bontrager's core cycling and racing audience and corresponding magazines.

In addition, relevant product-athlete combinations from the 2008 campaign will appear in publications reaching mountain bikers and triathletes.
