Kettle Cuisine Releases New Package Design

Kettle Cuisine Releases New Package Design

Kettle Cuisine, Inc. of Chelsea, MA, maker of fresh refrigerated soup has just released its newly designed retail package just in time for the 2004-2005 soup season.

The improved package is colorful, natural, and unifies Kettle Cuisine’s line of nineteen (19) varieties of fresh soup sold in 10 oz. microwaveable single serving bowls.

Each variety has a unique color band featuring the soup name, a brief description and nutritional values.

Kettle Cuisine's redesigned packaging better communicates their focus on top quality, natural ingredients such as Bell & Evans chicken which is raised without antibiotics.

They continue to use a clear container to allow the customer to see the soup. “For me, the clear container is very important,” says Kettle Cuisine’s Executive Chef Volker Frick, “I want our customers to see the soup, to really see what’s in there – real food and nothing artificial.

For example, our broccoli and carrots are fresh – not packed with color enhancers. We don’t put anything in our soups that you can’t pronounce".

The new package was designed by Hughes Design Group of Norwalk, Connecticut.

Huddersfield University Students Launch Their Graphic Design

Huddersfield University Students Launch Their Graphic Design

Huddersfield University students have put together their own design magazine.

But the venture doesn't involve paper or printing; it's all online.

Computing and engineering students have set up Street Graphic, a quarterly magazine.

The first issue is out in cyberspace and the next one will appear in January.

The non-profit magazine is the brainchild of lecturer John Kelly.

The purpose of the magazine - developed by the Canalside team - is to help students gain experience and valuable skills outside of their purely academic work.

Now, 19-year-old Joe Turner and Tony Eckersley, 21, have been chosen to co-edit the magazine and take it to the next level.

Street Graphic is free to look at and the pair hope it will spark debate among design students.

The magazine will carry features about visual design and communications.

Students can also dip into a royalty-free image bank - and post their own work online.

One student worthy of extra recognition will be picked out every issue to be profiled in detail.

Joe, who spent three months working in California last summer, said: "We met a lot of people like us who were designers trying to develop their skills, visual language and critical thinking.

Simple and Strong Bold Design Tops Banner Competition

Simple and Strong: Bold Design Tops Banner Competition

Wingham Public School has won the primary schools division of the Greater Taree City Council Sesquicentenary banner competition.

Schools across the Manning Valley were asked to design banners reflecting the district over the past 150 years and last Wednesday a number of students representing the school eagerly accepted first prize- a digital camera from Noeledge systems - during a special ceremony in Taree.

The judges praised the winning design for its simplicity and strength saying:

"The banner by Wingham Public School is particularly well composed and painted with great precision."

In bold colours the banner depicts the Manning River, Wingham Brush a heritage building and some bats and cows. Wingham's famous log is also there to represent the region's timber industry.

Teacher Jenny Ireland coordinated the project and conducted a mini-competition within the school to come up with the best overall concept.

She says that many children are proud of the region's heritage both natural and cultural and particularly as the school is in a rural location the children identify with this aspect of the community.

Once the final design was decided upon it was then transferred on to the special acrylic banner provided by council.

The high school division of the banner competition was taken out by St Clares.
