The terms mobility and ecological sustainability in recent years are giving themselves a complete visual makeover and freeing themselves of the out-of-date stereotypes from yesteryear.
In Sideways: A Smart Art Project, top international creatives and leading trend magazines envision and visualize a new creative language for expressing green modes of mobility.
This book assembles a fresh collection of outstanding work from photography and illustration to graphic design, painting, sculpture and architecture by one hundred international artists curated by eleven international magazines and the Smart car brand.
The artists were given the challenge to re-evaluate the way in which we think about the environment and mobility and give it a new and contemporary visual representation.
The rich diversity of work presented in this anthology shows how we can promote greener modes of transportation and shape our future path in a positive way.
Featured magazines include Neo2 (Spain), Style100 (Germany), Dazed & Confused (England), Tokion (USA), Indie (Austria), Drome (Italy), +81 (Japan), No Magazine (Norway), Baby Baby Baby (Mexico), Blend (Netherlands) and WAD (France).

Green has made a statement in more ways than one, with the Carr Design Group making a colourful impact at this year's Dulux Colour Awards.
Their submission, Deacon Law Tenancy in Sydney, was awarded the coveted Grand Prix title ahead of some of the highest-calibre finalists in the Awards' 22 year history.
Using myriad Dulux colours, it also received the prize for the most outstanding Environmentally Friendly project, a category making its inaugural debut into this year's programme.
Dulux's esteemed panel of judges, international guest interior designer Dr.
Frederique Houssard-Andrieux, Cox Rayner's Michael Rayner and Jimmy Possum's Margot Spalding, commended the project for using colour to make a genuine impact.
"Deacon Law Tenancy is a striking example of how a considerably large palette can be applied to a relative small area without having an overbearing impact on the space.
It is truly an exhilarating approach to colour," judges said.
Carr Design Group's success is rewarded with a business class return flight and accommodation to Milan for next month's highly-regarded Salone Internazionale del Mobile as part of a $15,000 prize pool, which includes $3,500 in cash.

The competition invites this year all designers to set their imagination free and talk about their dreams, whether these are images and feelings the human mind creates while we sleep or their hopes and wishes.
Therefore, the term dream can also be used metaphorically, it can be the starting point of an idea or be the main theme for the final piece.
The ten best entries will be printed into banners with dimensions 2m x 60cm and will be hung along Ithacas promenade for the entire summer of 2008.
Their creators will have free accommodation in Ithaca on the weekend of the exhibitions opening (July 2008).
