Thwaites places first at 2004 Graphic Design ShowClean lines and crisp design are the key words to describe the 2004 Graphic Design Show and Competition.
The juried student show features the works of several designers, with a few repeat artists as well. Some entries include corporate identity pieces like letterheads and business cards, package design, a few illustrations, book covers and publication design.
First place winner was senior Laura Thwaites with her entry, "Mutter Museum." Her package design, including a gift bag, wooden box and brochure featured great sense of color balance and a unique double skeleton illustration.
Ashleigh Cobb took second place. Her entry, "Paisley Puppy," used a primary color scheme for her three puppy biscuit tins. The design is extremely busy and intricate, but works well with the confident labeling.
Third place winner, Steven Hampton, created a spiral-bound book titled, "Neville Brody."
Three honorable mentions were given. Cobb received one for her spiral-bound book "Daniel Pelavin...A Reviewed Selection of Works."
