Coley Porter Bell Creates New Visual Identity for the Only the Brave Foundation

Coley Porter Bell has created a new visual identity to spearhead the expansion of the Only The Brave Foundation , the not for profit organisation funded and operated by Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel jeans.

The brief to Coley Porter Bell was to create an identity that would convey OTB Foundation's ambition to be a catalyst for change by empowering people to help themselves. The identity will be used on communications materials and equipment used by the charity in the field.

The new identity represents the idea of "brave momentum," executed in a bold naivist woodblock style, coloured denim blue. Each letter is created by a number of panels, which grow increasingly bold from left to right. The design can also be adapted to represent different areas of activity the Only The Brave Foundation is involved in - from health and water, to agriculture and education.

"Even Charities need to differentiate themselves and vie for attention," said Stephen Bell, Creative Director of Coley Porter Bell. "With this identity we wanted to move away from the wholesome, worthy imagery often adopted by charities operating in Africa and the developing world - outlines of Africa, outstretched hands, and so on - and create a purposeful identity for the Only The Brave Foundation to mark out its territory, whilst expressing the bold brand spirit."
