The Eastern Arizona College Offers New Certificate in Graphic DesignThe Eastern Arizona College Art Department is gearing up to offer a new short-term certificate program in Graphic Design.
This 21-credit-hour certificate will prepare students for entry-level employment in an advertising agency, art agency, newspaper, printing plant, industrial in-plant printing unit and free-lance work.
The program is designed to be completed in as little as two semesters and is targeted to high school students in the Gila Institute for Technology (GIFT) program and part-time students wanting to get a jump on a career in graphic and advertising design.
Jeb Earl, EAC's graphic design instructor, said, "This program will open the door for people to come in and get started, whether they want to go right into the job market or go on to obtain a degree."
The difference between the certificate and EAC's Associate of Applied Science degree in advertising design is the absence of the general education requirements. The certificate also focuses on teaching many of the industry software applications used by graphic designers today, such as Adobe's Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustra-tor and InDesign.
Eastern Arizona College offers graphic design students the latest technology. Industry-standard computers and printers will allow students to learn on the tools that practicing graphic designers use
