Massive Change: Global DesignThe Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) Chicago Chapter is offering a full-day event to help designers think about the global impact of their work and to explore the possibility of changing the world.
We invite you to look at the world through the eyes of designers from different disciplines whose work affects the masses.
Then re-evaluate your own design process and methodology by looking at design through the eyes of those masses.
The inspiring Bruce Mau will begin the day, speaking about Massive Change.
"Utopianism is not dead; it has migrated from politics to materialism.
It is not about the world of design; it's about the design of the world".
Elva Rubio will then discuss the work of Gensler, a leader in global design, planning, and strategic consulting.
With a network of 28 offices around the globe, Gensler is a multidisciplinary practice that looks at design through collaboration and contribution.
Fred Dust will lead a workshop with the IDEO Smart Space Team to round out the day.
IDEO redefines good design by creating experiences, not just products.
With IDEO, you will learn to experience designs and products through the eyes of the consumer/user.
Playing the role of various consumer/users can reveal discrepancies that we may have missed as designers.
