The Cincinnati Art Museum announced today the 2007-2008 exhibition schedule.
A New Yorker's View of Cincinnati
June 23 - Sept. 23, 2007
Rediscover the mural Saul Steinberg created for the original Cincinnati Terrace Plaza Hotel. On view for the first time in decades and recently conserved, the 80-foot-long mural depicts Cincinnati's people and its landmarks as only Steinberg's humorous art can.
Saul Steinberg: Illuminations
July 21 - Sept. 23, 2007
A great artist and one of America's most famous illustrators, Saul Steinberg is the subject of this major retrospective exhibition. Explore more than 100 drawings, collages and sculptures showcasing Steinberg's amusing and insightful perspective of the world around him. Also, see some of his art that lit up the pages of The New Yorker for six decades. This exhibition is organized by the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York.
Charley and Edie Harper, 1940 -1960

Enjoy the bold, stylized images of natural scenes and whimsical representations of animals by Cincinnati artists Charley and Edie Harper. This intimate display of rarely seen paintings explores the Harpers' early years as artists. Their work continues to influence 21st-century artists and designers.
Vanishing Frontier: Rookwood, Farny, and the American Indian

Explore the art and history of Native Americans as depicted in a premiere collection of Rookwood Pottery, complemented by the exquisite art of Henry Farny. Featuring more than 50 gouaches by Farny and 52 ceramic portraits from the James J. Gardner Collection of Rookwood, this exhibition displays the American Indians as remembered heroes during the final days of the frontier.

Designed to Dazzle: Cincinnati Collects Tiffany Jewelry

Sol LeWitt x 2

Discover the art of Sol LeWitt, one of America's most influential artists of the 20th century through this two-part exhibition. Selections from the LeWitt Collection, on view at the Cincinnati Art Museum, includes approximately 100 works from 1960 to the present by LeWitt's fellow artists. On view at the Contemporary Arts Center, Sol LeWitt: Structure and Line features the art of LeWitt. This exhibition is organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
Masterpiece Quilts from the Shelburne Museum

Building Books: The Art of David Macaulay

View the original drawings, paintings and studies of best-selling author and illustrator David Macaulay, recognized for his interpretations of the way things work, from simple gadgets to complex buildings. As a Caldecott Medal-winning artist and 2006 MacArthur Foundation Fellow, Macaulay brings together the worlds of art, history, science and fantasy.
The Arts of Kashmir

Experience the first comprehensive exhibition featuring the rich traditions of Kashmir, including 125 objects from both religious and secular art. The exhibition spans sixteen centuries of history and is organized by the Asia Society and Museum, New York City.
