Heavenspot Creates Show Package for Flow & Tell

Heavenspot, a digital advertising agency located in Los Angeles, California, has recently completed the Show Package for the hit show from SiTV Network, Flow & Tell, airing May 28th, 2007. Flow & Tell mixes the thoughts and opinions of "Generation Si" viewers and intertwines them with today's hottest music videos to create a compelling interactive narrative.
The project required the design and animation team to establish an aesthetic expression of the show. This proved to be the greatest challenge throughout, as many themes had to be incorporated seamlessly. Chevon Hicks, Creative Director, said about Heavenspot's approach, "While we were speaking to the same demo as MTV and Fuse, we were able to construct a look that uniquely falls under the established SiTV brand. Basically, we wanted to tell the story of the show in the open and also get viewers excited about the overall concept. A big part of the show's content is generated by regular people's rantings on a variety of subjects, which then ties into the latest music videos, giving relevance to Flow & Tell's playlist. Throughout the piece we constructed simple yet effective visual metaphors to underscore this, in a fun and meaningful way."
The package includes a cutting edge show open that combines photography, motion graphics and 3D animation. The show open is unique as it captures the true essence behind the show's theme while symbolizing popular culture and urban lifestyle. A full line-up of graphic elements including, bumpers, lower thirds, title cards, 2 box, 3 box and 4 box formats was also created by Heavenspot. The bumpers were used to reinforce the brand identity and provide a cutting edge transition between the show and commercial breaks. All the pieces within the package are forward thinking and conceptually push the envelope of television branding.
Seth Silver, Executive Producer of Heavenspot notes, "Heavenspot was brought in to help create the show's visual narrative and explore new methods of promoting the show on-air. We used standard practices with interstitial design but added a visually compelling framework for the elements to live and breath in. Using formats like next, then, later and tomorrow we were able to help extend this framework into the network's on-air promotions providing them with a viewer friendly way to tease the show and other network programming."
Additionally, music composition played a key role in the show package. In order to properly complement the theme of the show, Heavenspot had to develop music and sound design from the perspective of the interviewees and peer audience. In essence, the show's concept of random people speaking their minds coupled with their urban surroundings was the strategy applied.
Work on the project began at the end of January 2007 and was completed in mid April 2007. All design, animation and production was completed in Heavenspot's Silver Lake, CA, headquarters. The project was created using Photoshop CS3 / IllustratorCS3 for design, and After Effects 7.0 and Maya 8.0 for Animation. All sound design was completed in Pro Tools.
