Plastic Foam Car is Design Hit

IT'S no Ferrari, but the sleek solar-powered car built by a Ngee Ann Secondary School duo was a runaway hit.

Tan Shan Zhi and Eugene Chan, took third prize for design at the fifth annual National Junior Solar Sprint Competition with a car made from plastic foam.

The contest's model cars, all no more than 40cm long, were made from recyclables like plastic cups, toys and even an old slipper. One had wheels made from cardboard coasters.
