Thinking Ahead 32nd International Design Management Conference

Thinking Ahead: 32nd International Design Management Conference

June 1, 2007  |  Levent OZLER

We are clearly in a transitional period-a changing environment that requires cross-discipline work methods, cross-functional teams, and integrated design solutions. The Design Management Institute (DMI) will explore "Thinking Ahead: The changing role of design and design management in business" at its 32nd International Design Management Conference on September 23-26 at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa in Williamsburg, VA.

DMI will take an in-depth look at what the future may hold for design management, design leadership, and design strategy. The presentations at this conference will address and answer key questions: What is the current state of design, and where we are headed? How will we embrace the exploding awareness of design for business on a global level? Is this change here to stay? How can design managers address the issues of responsible design and triple bottom line?

According to DMI President Thomas Lockwood, "Everything about design is in a state of change. This conference will be a great way to discuss the evolution of design in business, to learn what's working best and to explore what the future may hold."

A portfolio of thought-leaders will address the present and future scenarios of design management integration, process, triple bottom line, education, communications, technology, global affairs and economics, products and services, and communities.

The goal will be to help design managers become design leaders, and design leaders to become organization leaders of the future.

To accommodate the continuously sold-out attendance, yet retain an intimate network, DMI's annual conference will be held outside of New England in a larger venue. The beautiful Kingsmill Resort & Spa is located on 2,900 acres along the James River near historic Colonial Williamsburg. The resort offers guest villas, a championship golf course, and, of course, a great spa. Kingsmill is easily accessible from the Norfolk, Richmond, Newport News/Williamsburg, and Washington, DC airports.

For registration information, visit: http://www.dmi.org/conferences, contact DMI by telephone at 617- 338-6380 or fax requests for registration to 617-338-6570.

With 1,400 members in 44 countries, DMI is the international authority, resource and advocate on design management, and a thought leader in the areas of design management, design strategy and design leadership.
