Rumi Under the Dome of Hagia Sophia

The year 2007 has been declared by UNESCO to be "The Year of Mevlana". Celebrating the 800th anniversary of his birth, an exhibition titled "Being a Soul in the House of Love - Heritage of Humanity: Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi" opened at Istanbul's Hagia Sophia Museum.
The exhibition area consists of 9 sections, symbolizing the number that has a very important place in the Mevlevi Order. These sections include categories such as "Mevlana; His Life and Thoughts," "800 Years of the Mevlevi Order," "Music and the Sema Ritual of the Whirling Dervishes" and "Symbolism in Calligraphy, Literature and the Mevlevi Order."
190 original works, gathered from several museums of Turkey are exhibited in these sections.
The exhibition will remain open till August 12th, 2007.
