Brooklyn Museum Gallery Studio Program Announces Registration for Fall Semester 2007

The Brooklyn Museum's Gallery / Studio Program offers a season of fun and challenging studio art courses for students ages six to adult.
Participants develop art skills through studying the Museum's collections and special exhibitions and experimenting with materials and creative techniques in hands-on classes.
Instruction is available in painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and digital photography.
Class topics include diverse subjects such as Art Foundations, Works on Paper, Ancient Egypt: Stories and Symbols, and Pop Art.
Of special note is the "Digital Film" class offered to teens ages 13-17, taught in collaboration with the New York Film Academy.
After viewing the special exhibition Infinite Island: Contemporary Caribbean Art, students will work as teams to write, direct, produce, and digitally edit their own films.
No filmmaking experience or equipment is necessary.
Full scholarships are available for students ages six to eighteen.
High school students can apply for the work-study program, in which students attend a Gallery/Studio program course free of charge in exchange for assisting Museum instructors in classes with students age six through nine.
The application deadline for scholarships and the work-study program is September 12.
