Design Council Appoints New Head of Communications
November 26, 2007 | Levent OZLER
The Design Council has appointed the former Chief Media Officer of Greenpeace International, Nigel Campbell, as its new Head of Communications.
Nigel previously worked for a number of years as producer of regional current affairs programmes for BBC Radio, and prior to this in the PR agency sector, most recently as Corporate Account Director in Weber Shandwick's broadcast division.
"I am thrilled to be part of an amazingly dynamic and creative team, which is making huge strides in nurturing and promoting Britain's design innovation, which will shape all of our futures. Design is an incredibly exciting sector to be in, and the Design Council is the epicentre of championing its role in business and society," he commented.
The appointment reinforces one of the Design Council's key aims - to promote the important role that design plays in sustainability. This is exemplified by the success of the recent Designs of the time (Dott 07) initiative, which fostered links between designers and local communities in the North East to create models for more sustainable living in areas such as local food production, healthcare, low carbon housing, redesigning schools and transport.
