Terzani Approaches Lighting From a New Angle with Untitled
February 28, 2008 | Levent OZLER
The stainless steel components of "Untitled" are laser cut and enameled white on one side, then assembled via traditional hand welding to interlock vertically and horizontally, forming a series of perpendicular angles. The spiky profile mimics the crisp, cantilevered planes of modernist architecture or a futuristic urban landscape from a 1950s sci-fi comic. "Untitled" is available in both a suspension and as a wall sconce. It is part of Terzani's groundbreaking Light is a Queen collection, which introduces a fresh twist to traditional Italian craft traditions.
The Light is a Queen collection combines elements of traditional Italian craftsmanship, such as time-honored hand welding, with a modern aesthetic to create the ultimate fusion of traditional Florentine craft culture and sleek Italian design. According to Terzani, "light reigns supreme in our homes" because it is the bright centerpiece of our most valued spaces, with deep roots in a genealogical aristocracy.
Over the past 20 years, Terzani's roster of designers has grown to include some of the most celebrated names in the industry. The collection features new lighting fixtures and "sculpture-objects" created by internationally renowned designers including Jean-Francois Crochet, Bruno Rainaldi, Prospero Rasulo, and Giulio Iacchetti.
