Qui est Paul

Qui est Paul

April 3, 2008  |  Levent OZLER

Qui est Paul?, a new brand of high-end furniture will be launched during the Milan furniture fair, in the off circuit around the Duomo, in the prestigious "Circolo Filologico" (Via Clerici, 10). In a way, Qui est Paul?, or Who is Paul? in English, tells the story of the life and values of a man through the objects he acquires and holds.

The first pieces consist of rotomolded furniture that can be used in or out. They have been designed in order to be very sculptural, while remaining highly functional and ergonomic. They are all made out of fully recyclable PE.

This first collection has been designed by Studio Paul and by Alain Gilles who in his "second life" has worked for Xavier Lust and Quinze and Milan and is currently being edited by several international brands such as Bonaldo.

Rock Garden - Modular Planter Design Alain Gilles
These modular planters remind us of the logic found in rock gardens and natural stone path made out of roughly-cut stones. By playing with juxtapositions these planters allow for an infinite number of settings. Hence, in a way, everyone can take part in the design process and create his own design. They can be used to recreate rock gardens on a terrace, to visually divide larger spaces, or grow aromatic herbs for instance.

Tanslation Armchair Design Alain Gilles
A visually dynamic seat that is both fresh and modern, but has all the attributes to become a classic. A shape defined by a translation movement between top and bottom. Subtle and well-defined lines convey a real warmth and comfort to this seat.

Sliced Chair Design Alain Gilles
A great classic revisited in a sculptural. Fluid and sharp construction lines that have been cut with the precision of a scalpel. A careful play with light, curvatuture lines and a formal transition between top and bottom that gives the chair its distinctive movement.
