Parsons 2008 Thesis Exhibitions

Parsons The New School for Design announced its 2008 thesis show schedule, which celebrates the work of its graduating students. Throughout the coming months, Parsons will present a series of exhibitions in venues across Manhattan, representing the final works of its undergraduate and graduate students. This includes work by students from the architecture, design and management, fashion studies, fine arts, illustration, integrated design, interior design, lighting, photography, and product design programs.
Parsons BFA Integrated Design Curriculum Exhibition
Opening Reception: April 23, 6-8 pm; on view through May 2, 2008
Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons The New School for Design

This self-directed interdisciplinary degree program gives students the opportunity to integrate studies in the various areas of art and design practice offered at Parsons. This year's projects range from a collection of transformable clothing to plans for a community center in the South Bronx.

Parsons MFA Fine Arts Exhibition
Opening Reception: May 1, 6-8 pm; on view through May 10, 2008
The Kitchen, 512 West 19th Street, New York
Students in the MFA Fine Arts program create work in a variety of media from drawing, painting, video, mixed media, and installation to performance art. Students recently presented their work at the PULSE Contemporary Art Fair, where one of the student works, by Brandon Natanski, was considered one of the strongest pieces in the fair.

Parsons BFA Photography Thesis Exhibition
Opening Reception: May 6, 6-8 pm; on view through May 17, 2008

Students in the BFA Photography program are encouraged to explore and experiment, moving fluidly between commercial, fashion, documentary and fine art photography.

Through an understanding of artists' tools, materials, and practice, Parsons BFA Fine Arts students learn to harness their ideas into works of individual expression.

A Good Life: Parsons BFA Product Design Thesis Exhibition

Now in its fifth year, A Good Life partners graduating students in Parsons BFA Product Design program with nonprofit organizations to create thesis works that address social issues. To date, students have developed nearly 200 products and services.
