There is no longer one single future. It is progress, innovation. But also their rejection. Not a destiny, but a project. And that makes it personal. A choice, based on cultural attitudes. The design of things, like the future, becomes a personal option. No longer the style of an era to which to adapt, but lots of styles, reflecting every facet of contemporary complexitty. Different and parallel, to be seen as manifestations of expressive authenticity. The key signature of aesthetics is contamination, not seen as hybridization but as juxtaposition, enhancing mutual differences. Furnishings no longer exist in neutral scenarios, but look for personalized, decorated settings in which to reveal their individual identities. Instead of coordination, expressing a desire for order and uniformity, we now have the uncoordinated, an indicator of multiplicity.
