Asiatica's Newest Fall Designs in New York City
September 18, 2008 | Levent OZLER
Designer and Japanese textile collector Elizabeth Wilson of Asiatica presents Asiatica's newest fall designs in New York City September 17 - 26, 2008.
Using high-tech Nuno textiles (found in the permanent collection of MoMA) and re-adapted vintage kimono sourced in Japan, Kansas City-based Asiatica interprets unconventional fabrics of surprising patterns and textures into wearable art that marries sculptural shapes with timeless beauty.
Asiatica is also one of the only designers in the United States to employ the fabrics of Nuno, a company whose avante-garde textiles boast such alternative materials as silk waste, maize fiber, metals and threads with special shrinkage properties.
