December 2, 2008 | Levent OZLER
Ten Singapore designs and designers were honoured at this year's President's Design Awards.
The President's Design Award is Singapore's most prestigious award for its designers and designs.
It recognises the significant achievements and contributions of the nation's design talents.
For architects Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell, the most fulfilling projects are those that involve creating spaces which appeal to the public.
Mr Hassell, one of the founding directors of Woha Architects, said: "It's very nice to be part of the life of a city rather than something walled away that only certain people can see."
Another founding director of Woha Architects, Mr Wong, said: "We do want to build for the public and let the public enjoy our buildings."
The duo is one of three recipients of the Designer of the Year award.
The other winners of the Designer of the Year award are Edmund Wee from EPIGRAM and Nathan Yong from Air Division.
Other winners include those from disciplines such as interior, landscape and product designs.
