Quality scheme ensures product confidence

Quality scheme 'ensures product confidence'

June 10, 2004  |  bengisu

The Woolmark Company's accreditation scheme for Total Easy Care (TEC) knitwear is an integral part of the Advanced Natural Fibre Technology project, being undertaken in collaboration with ANDAR, which aims to ensure that the Easy Care performance of TEC-treated fibre is managed from earliest stages of wool-top processing right through all subsequent processing to the final product.

Mr. Roy Kettlewell, business development manager, Woolmark Easy Care Innovations, who is responsible for operating The Woolmark Company's TEC Accreditation programme, explained that the scheme is an independent assessment of a company's ability to consistently control the Easy Care processing of wool through manufacturing.

He told the Wool Record: "The idea is to achieve a 'closed loop' of quality suppliers in the Total Easy Care pipeline to ensure that strict specifications and standards are maintained throughout the garment production pipeline.

The scheme was initially launched and applied to the wool-top stage. Last year The Woolmark Company extended its accreditation scheme to leading spinners, and it hopes that all major knit suppliers to the important European and United States retail markets will join the scheme before the programme is rolled out to knitters and garment makers.
