3 Fish in a Tree Completes Website Redesign for Award-winning Architects YRM
December 10, 2008 | Levent OZLER
London graphic design agency 3 fish in a tree's web redesign for, architecture and design practice, YRM is now live.
Capitalising on the company's modernist ethos of simplicity, integrity and quality, this new trilingual design solution (a version which represents a trio of offices in London, Vienna and Bucharest) explores both Yorke Rosenberg Mardall's historic collateral and its current role in building innovation.
"From what was initially a long list of agencies, 3 fish in a tree won the contract based on approach, budget and personnel," says YRM director Iain Macdonald.
"They communicated well and avoided pre-conceived or formulaic ideas."
Describing that designer / client relationship as "stimulating", such an undertaking perhaps addresses concerns that some people may have about creative control when designers design for other designers.
But this is a role that the team at 3 fish in a tree increasingly find themselves in and, as is visible via this latest project, it is one that can yield exceptional results.
"Confidence was key," Iain Macdonald insists.
"Understanding that 3 fish are very good in their chosen field, we tried hard to guide rather than attempt to design.
We knew that we should not inhibit but encourage and perhaps even be challenged by their work."
The completed scheme utilises original photography from 3fish director Chris Davies and combines functionality with a sophisticated new aesthetic.
