RTT USA & Art Center College of Design Explore Material / Design Trends in Podcast Series

January 14, 2009  |  Levent OZLER

The Material Intersections January 2009 podcast will explore the topic of everyday materials re-imagined.

The five-minute podcast is led by Michele Hess, director of RTT's Material & Color Connection, and Marshall Hamachi, CMTEL's associate director and will focus on giving everyday materials a second life.

From the organic, to the found, to the common, the podcast explores the concept of repurposing materials and thinking beyond their original use to create a new life or function for the material.

RTT and Art Center's coproduction of the material trends podcast showcases the capabilities of RTT's proprietary software, RTT DeltaGen, and brings visual inspiration to the art and design community.

Material Intersections was launched in December 2008, and the goal is to connect the tactile and technical worlds in an inspiring format combining thoughtful narrative and rich visuals.

The podcasts will explore a different material trend each month.

In the future, the podcasts will feature interviews with designers who will provide insight on various materials they use during the design application process.

Upcoming podcast topics include, Artisanship, Intelligent Materials, Sustainability and Slow Tech.
