Executive producer Dominic Buttimore of th1ng, London-based mixed media and animation studio, will chair Europe's leading film and animation conference Pencil to Pixel held in Prague on 4th and 5th February at the Lucerna Cinema.
He will be joined on the speaker's panel by film titles designer Richard Morrison and a delegation of London's leading film, animation and production experts including Andy Morahan and Meg Guidon.
The two-day event aimed at European students of film, media, animation and visual communication will give an insight into the real world practice of creative industries and address some of the finest work in animation and filmmaking of the previous year.
The focus of the festival is to raise awareness and involvement in filmmaking and inspire students through practical interaction. Speakers will present and discuss a selection of their work and at the end of each presentation there will be a question time where students are given the opportunity to quiz the speakers on their careers, work and inspiration.
The speakers have between them created and produced some of the most complex, breathtaking and memorable, animation and visual special effects over the last few years, working on films such as Vantage Point, The Golden Compass, Sweeney Todd, and the Gladiator.
Dominic Buttimore, chairman of Pencil to Pixel, said: "This event has an educational focus and is going from strength to strength. It will be an excellent opportunity for students to meet up with high profile speakers and experience a first hand practical showcase of editing and directing. We are particularly pleased for the event to feature such industry respected creatives known for combining quality and skills with high end innovation".
Richard Morrison who will give an insight into the craft of title sequences said: "Students will have the opportunity to listen to and question leading creatives on their work, influences and career choices. This has a tremendous impact on their creative development and future work and ultimately helps to nurture new talent".
Among Pencil to Pixel's other speakers are Andy Brown (post production) and Meg Guidon (CGI).
