Elohim by Sabrina Goh: Spring Summer 09 Collection

February 20, 2009  |  Sabrinagoh

The collection Elohim is inspired by LEGO, bricks that kids are used to play since young.

Concept of LEGO of stepping bricks to build object, changing of shape, creates textures and architecture structure are applied in the collection.

LEGO is a toy established by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1930s.

He came out with two letters of Danish words Leg Godt, which mean "Play Well".

He put the letters together and created LEGO, which turns out to mean "I put together" in Latin.

The meaning of those words became the foundation and concept behind the company and this collection.

Interlock pieces with endless configurations in colors and layers of felt and lego together; enhance with the ideas of unplugs and rebuilds to change shape and silhouette in the collection.

Collection emphasized more on esthetics of outer beauty.

Felt are sew on the fabrics to create graphical patterns.

LEGO bricks are used as an embellishment on garment.

Abstract forms, super size, patterns, shapes that slightly off balance, out of proportion, stretched and squashed are expressed fun and creativity of LEGO in the collection.

Combined Soft and hard elements are the essential and practice of me in my collections.

A touch of masculine combined with feminist expressed the different characters of targeted customers; soft and feminist verse strong and persistence.
