AIA Columbus Announces Design Winner for New Center for Architecture
September 22, 2009 | Levent OZLER
A design created by Lincoln Street Studio has been selected as the winning submission for the new Center for Architecture, which will be opened next year by AIA Columbus.
The center, to be centrally located Downtown at 390 E. Broad St., will serve as an unparalleled resource to create a more livable community by connecting the architecture and design professions with the community.
"This center will serve as the gateway for education, conversation and debate about the importance quality design has on our community's architecture, density, urban infrastructure, planning, transit, sustainability, neighborhood revitalization and public spaces, and will push central Ohio to the forefront of progressive cities," said Timothy Hawk, 2009 AIA Columbus president and a principal at WSA Studio.
Columbus will follow some of the country's largest metropolitan areas - New York City, Portland and Philadelphia - which have opened architecture centers recently to bring together the architecture and design professions and communities.
