Absolut Vancouver Limited-edition Bottle to Support Local Arts Project

Absolut Vancouver Limited-edition Bottle to Support Local Arts Project

November 11, 2009  |  Levent OZLER

Absolut Vancouver by Douglas FraserABSOLUT Vancouver, a new, limited-edition bottle designed to embody Vancouver and support the local arts community. Up to $120,000 from the bottle's proceeds will go towards a new Vancouver arts project.

As part of its tribute to Vancouver arts, ABSOLUT commissioned local illustrator and graphic artist Douglas Fraser to design the limited-edition bottle to reflect the uniqueness of the city. Featuring a bold, yellow and blue sea plane soaring above Vancouver's skyline and sealed within an emblematic 'V' symbol, the design exemplifies what it means to live, work and play in Vancouver.

"It is an honour to partner with ABSOLUT to create something special for Vancouver," said Douglas Fraser. "This city is unique and contemporary and I designed the bottle to reflect that."

ABSOLUT Vancouver is the first Canadian city to join the brand's exclusive city-themed bottle portfolio, as part of its long-running "Cities" campaign, which already includes ABSOLUT New Orleans (2007), ABSOLUT Los Angeles (2008) and ABSOLUT Boston (2009).

"Vancouver was a natural choice for ABSOLUT's next city-themed bottle," said Kelly Kretz, Senior Brand Manager for ABSOLUT vodka. "In addition to being globally recognized as an exciting, cosmopolitan and naturally stunning Canadian city, Vancouver is a hotbed of cultural and creative talent, which ABSOLUT is very proud to support."

The launch of ABSOLUT Vancouver follows a call-to-action for local artists to submit proposals describing how they would support Vancouver art with up to $120,000. Starting today, top finalists will be displayed online at www.absolutvancouver.ca and Vancouverites are invited to vote for their favourite proposal. The winning idea will be announced in 2010.
